On 15 February, the second of the Speed Circuit commenced. This round too was a blitz round, but this time players each got a whopping 5 minutes to think with a 3 second increment. This time again 8 players were present to compete for the victory of the day, and the ow-so-important circuit points that were up for grabs.
This round was an exciting one as there was fierce competition at all levels: it was somewhat clear who would sort themselves into the top 4, and who into the bottom 4, but within those groups anything was possible. In the bottom 4, Mahmoud managed to inch above myself, Anton, and Adrian in a close set of matches in which everyone beat everyone.
For the top 4, Jeroen couldn’t overcome missing the first 2 rounds and ended at fourth, despite beating Eloy. Ralf and Eloy ended up tying in second place as they both dropped games against Joshua and one other player. And even more so than last time, Joshua took the victory, beating everybody and ending with a dominant 7 wins, 0 draws, and 0 losses.
This leaves us with the following standings in the speed circuit. And remember, only the best 3 results count, so there is still plenty of time to come in and see how well you fare in the next round: a rapid tournament of 10 minutes per player!
