Summer success at Dutch Club Teams Championship

During this year's Dutch Championships they had also organized a number of side events. One of those was the Blitz championship for club teams. Where last year we had 30+ degrees when we were playing in Rotterdam and were basically in a sauna with a not so eucalyptus kind of smell :P. This year we first had to go through the pouring rain to end up in a chilly FC Utrecht stadium. With our team of 4: Joshua, Ralf, Pepijn and Krithik we started of on our adventure and to see what mayhem we could cause.

To be quite honest, the competition was quite fierce, so we did not have the illusion we would end up in the top half, but were just aiming to have some fun ;). We were playing with 3 min + 2 sec increment in an Amsterdam pairing system. Which basically means that we had 3 preliminary rounds/pools after which you end up in a final pool. The first round we did quite well and only lost against LSG1, who ended up 4th in the end:

However, having scored so high in the first round got us into trouble in the 2 rounds that followed :). We had very strong competition and ended up last in both pools:

Now, you might think: But Ralf, why the hell did you say in the title that we had success? Well... as we scored (a bit) poorly in these preliminary rounds, we ended up in the lowest final group. This group we were able to win quite convincingly in the end, which means that we actually won back our entry fee and earned the club some bucks as well :). Next year we definitely need to have 2 teams in, so we can win both of the 2 lowest pools, but that might be me talking as treasurer.
